The year has flown by and December is now upon us. We would like to wish you all a very warm and Happy Holidays. Thank you for all your hard work this year!

November is a great time to get to the garden and clean your beds. The first frost has already happened and most plants from the summer will be dead

October is the month where the leaves begin to fall and the days are getting cooler and shorter. This is a great time to start winding down your beds and putting them to sleep for winter.

Summer is ending and fall is arriving and that means it’s time to harvest the last of your summer crops. September is the last window of time to get your fall and winter crops in the ground!

The high heat of summer has arrived and it’s crucial that you are watering you beds every day or two. Make sure you have a consistent watering schedule locked down during these hot days.

July has arrived and sure enough, so has the heat. Make sure you stay consistent with your watering so that your plants stay happy and healthy over the summer. Setting a solid watering schedule is highly recommended.

June has arrived and summer is only moments away. With temperatures on the rise, it’s important to remember to water your plants thoroughly and more often so you can maximize your yields and increase your bounty over the summer months.

It’s now mid spring at the Oak & 41st garden and all systems are a go. Make sure you are registered for your garden beds as the registration deadline is quickly approaching.

Spring is here at the Oak & 41st garden and the growing season is really starting to kick off. There is a lot of uncertainty circulating around the city due to COVID-19 and we have some new rules and guidelines to follow so we can all stay safe and continue to garden.

But, don’t let the weather get to you, spend some time planning out what you’re going to be growing in the spring and throughout the summer months and you’ll be set to blast out the gates when the weather begins to fair.

December has arrived and the last time I look it said -1 degrees on the thermometer. All the beds are to rest and the water has been shut off. We hope you have a wonderful Holiday season and you take the time to reflect on all that you grew this year.

The first frosts have arrived at the Oak & 41st garden and we have shut off the water. Be sure to put any dead or dying plants into the greens waste bin and line your beds with the fallen leaves to give them some mulch for the winter.

Fall is officially here and sure feels like it. The mornings have been cool and crisp, the leaves are changing colour and the sun is sitting much lower in the sky. Make sure you prepare your beds for winter by harvesting the last of your summer veg, pulling up any dead plants and putting your bed to rest if you’re not planning on growing through the winter.

September brings with it the beginning signs of fall and that means it’s time to get your cool weather varieties of vegetables in the ground. Planting out your fall garden will allow you to continue harvesting through the fall and growing through the winter.

Summer is in full swing and we have entered into the dog days of summer. It’s crucial to keep on top of watering your plants as they will suffer through the heat. When you’re watering, make sure to check that the ground is thoroughly soaked!

Summer is here again and so is the hot and dry. To make the make the most of the summer months it’s best to plant heat tolerant crops and stick to a consistent watering routine.
