4TH & MACDONALD TEMPORARY COMMUNITY GARDEN
The 4th & Macdonald Temporary Community Garden was a temporary growing space in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC, Canada. The garden is located at the corner of West 4th Ave. and Macdonald Street. The temporary growing space was assembled in 2017 and has 100 community garden beds, in addition to seating, garden art and a community noticeboard! This allotment garden was for community members to grow food and flowers.
The garden was decommissioned after 6 successful growing seasons in late 2023. The garden was removed and the project was completed with the construction of high-density residential housing. The project journey was successful: vacant lot > temporary garden > housing.

Please help us keep the watering system intact by handling the hoses with care and turning the water OFF before you leave the garden.
Please don’t take too much compost––we’d like everyone to get the opportunity to freshen their bed.
We can’t believe that it's November already and that our rainy city just had its first snowfall. Here are a couple of garden updates as we transition into the cooler months.
